Mumbai / Phuket:Filmmaker Kumar Raj has been honoured at the prestigious Mid-Day Gems of India Awards 2026 in Phuket, Thailand, for his film Ameena, which has achieved a rare milestone of completing 100 weeks in theatres—a feat reserved for only a handful of Indian films.
The award was presented by Amruta Fadnavis and acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, marking a proud moment for the filmmaker and his team.
Ameena has not only enjoyed an exceptional theatrical run but has also resonated with audiences globally, with screenings across international markets including the USA. The film, which released in March 2024, has steadily built a strong word-of-mouth reputation for its emotional depth and storytelling.
Led by Rekha Rana in a powerful central performance, the film explores a deeply rooted narrative, blending human emotions with spiritual undertones. Directed by Dharam Jaiswal, the project presents a compelling cinematic experience driven by a gripping screenplay.
The film is adapted from the play Yaha Ameena Bikte Hai, written by Aftab Hasnain, with story and screenplay by Dr. Prod Kishan Pawar, adding depth and authenticity to the narrative.
